Set up a community gardens similar to the community gardens next to Veale Gardens in the southern Parklands but on a much larger scale (occupying the majority of Park 5). The community gardens could be divided into specialised sub-sections. For example one section could focus on growing vegetables.
Another could be set up for people to grow flowers and designed in such a way to allow the greater public to view the flowers grown. There could also be a section where a variety of fruit trees are grown as a mini-forest acting as a 'Garden of Eden'. Another option could include having an outdoor kitchen and classroom where public lectures/demonstrations on cooking/food/health/gardening/etc. could be held.
This could also be used by school groups who would come to visit the gardens to learn about food etc. The community gardens will help provide city dwellers the opportunity to access a small garden plot and the community that forms around the garden will strengthen South Australia's strong food appreciation and culture.
