Once a month on Friday’s from 9.30 pm to midnight we should close off Rundle street and parts of Frome, Grenfell and East Terrace to make a circuit for inline skaters to use as a track.
This would be a free event and would be open to all ages. There also could be a roller derby night, dress up themes and the opportunity for other modes of transport such as BMX, skateboards, and scooters to participate on alternate Fridays of each month.
This event is very similar to the Pari roller held in Paris and other European cities. This event would create a postive buzz in the East end, encouraging more people to be active, invite crowds to come and watch as well as getting the cars off the roads. We could be the first to pioneer this idea before the other states.
