There are thousands of clubs and groups that meet across Adelaide, from Bush walking to floral arranging to history to pigeon fanciers.
Most groups struggle to find suitable accommodation and are reliant on low rent church halls and community rooms
Members often struggle to lug their gear back and forward to meetings because of no dedicated space. For older people relying on public transport it often means that with the loss of a drivers licence they drop out.
What I propose is to build a multi use club facility “Adelaide Club House” in the City with access to both public transport and good parking.
The purpose build facility could be designed to be used by a big range of groups and clubs, a compact-us type storage system in each multi use room would give each group there own storage space for there books, equipment and membership/club paraphernalia.
By having several hundred groups using one multi use facility economies of scale could allow access to a staffed and serviced office to handle club mail and importantly public enquiries.
A similar arrangement to the Home ideas centre on Anzac highway were the public can browse information displays and tick boxes on a card and be given information on club events.
