I would like to see the Adelaide Zoo and Botanic Gardens merge into one large entity stretching from North Terrace to the Torrens. The Zoo is already a small botanic garden in its own right and combining the two (along with Botanic Park) would enable the Botanic Garden to potentially expand some foreign species of plants to help theme enclosures and educate the public about biodiversity and the impact of changes to ecosystems as a whole. Although current gardens may have to change, to enable enclosures, there could still be places for sitting and reflection, picnics and play spaces. Parking along Plane Tree Drive could potentially be retained with over/underpasses and the creative use of enclosures around the existing roadway.

Adelaide Zoo

The zoo is located in the Park Lands just north of the city centre and houses about 300 native and exotic species with other 1,800 animals on site.

Adelaide Zoo is open from 9.30am - 5.00pm every day of the year, including Christmas. For detailed opening times, please visit the official Adelaide Zoo website.
